Deddington Town Colts – the role of your Club Welfare Officer (CWO)
- I am responsible for making sure that managers, coaches, players and parents understand the importance that Deddington Town Colts places on making sure we provide a safe environment for the children and young people who play football for the club.
- I make sure that managers and coaches understand their ‘duty of care’ towards children and young people. This includes making sure that managers and coaches have an up-to-date Criminal Record Check (when new coaches come to the club, and this is updated every 3 years), have attended a Safeguarding Children course, and an Emergency 1st Aid course.
- I also make sure that managers, coaches, players and parents adhere to the Respect Code of Conduct.
I want to make sure that the children and young people, who play for Deddington Town Colts, enjoy their football and play in a safe environment and that managers and coaches are supported in what they do as volunteers.
Oxfordshire FA and the Witney and District Youth Football League provide training events and support to CWOs across Oxfordshire.
I will come along to training sessions and matches each season.
This is an opportunity for parents and players to meet me and talk to about what we are doing for the club, and answer any questions.
All the Codes of Conduct on Respect (for managers, parents, players) and other Safeguarding policies are on the club website.
If there are any issues that you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Joe Ryan ( deddingtonyouthwelfareoffice@gmail.com ) in the first instance.
